From modest starter homes to million dollar mansions, the  Fall Parade of Homes  has something to satisfy every taste and budget. From September 24 - October 9 more than 300 homes throughout the metro area are open to the public from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. For maps and more information about this free event, pick up your Parade of Homes guide at the Home Builders Association or at any of the homes featured on the parade.

With hundreds of homes available for viewing, it's easy to get overwhelmed when deciding which homes to view. The Home Builder's Association web site simplifies the house hunting process for you with their Fall Parade of Homes Search page. Serious house hunters, will love this page because it allows you to narrow down your search by school district, price, location, and number of rooms.

If you are more excited by the prospect of seeing inspiring design ideas that buying a new house, I suggest limiting your search to furnished homes at the higher end of the price range. My favorite strategy for open house tours is to pick a handful of the most expensive furnished homes and within a reasonable driving distance from each other. In one afternoon I tour my top picks and come away wil plenty of great ideas for what I would like to see in my own dream home.
